After 14 years of a brutal civil war, the small West African nation of Liberia continues to rebuild, but is struggling against a silent and devastating adversary: trauma. In a country of more than 4 million, it’s estimated almost half the population suffers from symptoms of PTSD. And they have almost nowhere to turn: the country has only ONE practicing psychiatrist and ONE psychiatric hospital. But hope is on the way…
Still We Rise is the first documentary film to share the untold, urgent story of the mental health crisis in post-conflict Africa and an inspiring effort to tackle it head-on by three courageous young nurses.
Most importantly, it’s a story of triumph in the face of unimaginable suffering, and a tribute to the collective resilience of the human spirit.
